Frequently asked questions
How do I play a Nonogram?▾
Each puzzle is a grid with number clues along every row and column. The clues tell you the lengths of the consecutive filled groups in that line, in order. Use logic to decide which cells must be filled and which must be empty — mark empties with an X so you don't lose track. When the grid is correct, a hidden picture is revealed. Every puzzle is solvable by pure logic, so you never need to guess.
How do the six Worlds work?▾
Nonogram — Picture Logic is organized into six difficulty Worlds: Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert, Master, and Grandmaster, for 180 hand-verified puzzles in total. Sizes range from gentle 5×5 grids up to 20×20 challenges. Every level is computer-verified to have exactly one solution. Earn up to 3 stars per level for solving it, beating the par time, and finishing hint-free, and clear levels to unlock the next World.
What is the Daily Challenge and how do streaks work?▾
The Daily Challenge is a single puzzle that is the same for every player worldwide each day. Completing it extends your streak, and your calendar fills in with each solved day. If you miss a day your streak resets, but you can start a new one anytime. Your streak and calendar are stored on your device.
What's the difference between fill mode and X mode?▾
Fill mode paints cells you've determined are part of the picture; X (rule-out) mode marks cells you've proven must be empty. You can tap-and-drag to fill or rule out a whole line at once, and undo any move. Real-time clue checking dims lines you've completed and flags lines that have become impossible, so mistakes are easy to catch.
How do hints work?▾
When you're stuck, the logical hint points you to a next deductive step rather than just filling the answer, so you keep learning the techniques. If hints aren't appearing, make sure you've started a puzzle, then try closing and reopening the app.
My progress, streak, or stats disappeared. What can I do?▾
All progress, streaks, and statistics are stored locally on your device — no account is required. Progress can be lost if the app is deleted and reinstalled, or if you switch to a new device, because there is no cloud account to restore from. To keep your data, avoid deleting the app. If your data vanished without reinstalling, email us at support@brainrash.com with your device model and iOS version and we'll help investigate.
Game Center leaderboards or achievements aren't updating.▾
Best times, total stars, and streaks sync to Game Center leaderboards, and achievements unlock for first wins, cleared tiers, and streak milestones. If they aren't updating, open Settings > Game Center on your device and confirm you're signed in, then make sure Game Center is enabled. A stable internet connection is required to submit scores. Reopen the app after signing in, and contact support@brainrash.com if problems persist.
Does the app work offline, and does it show ads?▾
Yes. Nonogram — Picture Logic is offline-first: no account, no internet connection, and no ads are required to play. The only feature that needs a connection is submitting scores to Game Center leaderboards.
What themes, languages, and accessibility features are supported?▾
Choose from five themes — Midnight, Daylight, Sunset, Forest, and Grape — and toggle sound and haptics in Settings. The app includes a color-blind-friendly palette, a high-contrast grid, full VoiceOver support, and Dynamic Type, and is available in 11 languages. If you hit an accessibility issue, email support@brainrash.com and we'll address it.
Which devices are supported, and how do I report a bug?▾

To report a bug or request a feature, email support@brainrash.com with the subject line "Nonogram" and include your device model, iOS version, and a description (screenshots help). We typically respond within 1–2 business days.
